Invoicing is only half the job

Most freelance invoicing tools handle the easy half: they make a tidy invoice and email it. The hard half happens before that — turning the week’s work into the numbers on the invoice. If your hours live in a separate time tracker, that means exporting a timesheet and re-typing it, line by line, into a tool that has never heard of the client or the project. Do it under time pressure at month end and it is exactly where hours quietly go unbilled.

The other half nobody sells you is the money view. An invoice tells you what you sent; it does not tell you whether the month actually worked out once software subscriptions, contractors and expenses are counted. That usually lands in a spreadsheet you keep meaning to update.
